Hi, I’m Rachel and I’m passionate about Complementary Therapies, Yoga and your Wellbeing. I have been practising Complementary Therapies since the early 2000’s and have continued to learn and develop my skills ever since.

My interest in Complementary Therapies was sparked in the mid 1990’s in the North East of England when I was used as a ‘guinea pig’ by a group at Scarborough College who were studying many forms of Complementary Therapies. After having had acupuncture,  crystal healing and massage therapy, I experienced really positive effects in my physical and mental Wellbeing.  So, I decided to find out more and re-trained at the local college and embarked on my Aromatherapy Diploma. I subsequently qualified in Indian Head Massage and Reflexology and began practicing these therapies from home whilst working part time at the local University.

I moved down to Norfolk in 2003 and took a change in career, working for two different Housing Associations, doing one-to-one work and supporting vulnerable people. During this time I did therapy work for friends and colleagues and continued to expand my knowledge and skills and qualified as a Crystal Healing Therapist in 2011 and a Deep Tissue Massage and Pregnancy Massage Therapist in January 2016.

I love learning and adding to my portfolio of skills; I had practiced Yoga since moving down to Norfolk, primarily because I was interested in what it was all about (I didn’t know anything about it!) and through my first teacher I found a form of physical exercise, combined with breathing techniques and meditation, that really worked for me. I continued to develop my practice further under the guidance of Swami Atma Gyanam Saraswati  and in 2015 started my teacher training with him. I qualified as a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher in September 2016, accredited with Yoga Alliance Professionals.

I love using my Therapies and teaching Yoga to support people in really positive ways to improve their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.  My career background has always been in customer service in different guises and I am passionate about serving people well and to the very best of my abilities. I established Calm in the City in 2015 to provide you not only with a first class service, but as a place where you can retreat to. A space to help you connect with yourself and discover ways of supporting yourself to stay healthy and well.
